2013 is coming to an end, and I thought it would be nice to look back at some beauty products that really stood out for me this year. I didn’t try a lot of new things, but the ones I did ended up becoming staples in my routine. These are the products I kept using, repurchasing, and genuinely enjoyed throughout the year. Nothing fancy, just things that worked well for my skin and made my daily routine a little more fun.
1. Etude House SHINee Shine Star Clear BB Lotion
I’ve been using this since 2012, and I’m already on my fourth bottle. It was my very first Korean makeup product. I initially bought it because of SHINee (obviously), but I ended up loving it so much that I kept repurchasing it throughout 2013. The coverage is light with a dewy finish, and it has a subtle, sweet scent that I really like. The packaging is also really cute. It comes with SPF 20/PA++, which is a nice bonus for daily sun protection. I wear this to campus almost every day, and it looks very natural like I’m not wearing any makeup at all.
2. Etude House Fresh Cherry Lip Tint
This is the best lip tint I’ve tried so far. My natural lip color is pretty pale, so this has been my absolute go-to for adding some life to my face. The texture is a gel that’s really easy to blend, with a soft, pleasant scent. It gives a very natural pink flush that doesn’t look overdone at all. It’s quite long-lasting, although I do need to reapply after eating. I usually carry this in my bag for touch-ups, and it’s one of those products I use without even thinking.
3. Etude House Wonder Pore Freshener
I use this as my daily toner, and it’s honestly such a lifesaver for my pores. It feels really refreshing on my skin and helps remove any leftover residue after washing my face. It’s supposed to have a lot of benefits, but for me, it simply keeps my skin feeling balanced and less oily. I also love the big pump bottle, it’s super convenient and lasts forever! This has easily become a staple in my routine this year.
4. Innisfree Wine Peeling Jelly Softener
5. Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask
I reach for this mask whenever my skin feels congested or extra oily. Unlike other clay masks, this one has a creamy texture that’s easy to spread and doesn’t dry out my skin. I usually leave it on for about 10-15 minutes, and after washing it off, my pores look cleaner and my skin feels instantly smoother. It’s been such a game-changer for my T-zone this year, and I keep coming back to it whenever my blackheads act up.
6. The Face Shop Herb Day 365 Cleansing Foam
I use the Acerola variant every morning. It lathers up really well and leaves my face feeling squeaky clean without feeling too tight or dry. I love the faint fruity scent, it’s so refreshing! The tube is huge and very affordable, and I feel like it never runs out. It’s a simple cleanser that works really well for my skin.
7. Secret Key Snail Gel Repairing Cream
Last but not least, this is my first ever snail skincare product. The whole “snail” trend might sound a bit strange, but this one totally won me over. The texture is a clear, lightweight gel that absorbs almost instantly without any stickiness. It feels really cooling on the skin and helps a lot with any redness or small breakouts I get. I use it as a light moisturizer during the day because it doesn’t make my face oily at all. It’s honestly one of the best budget-friendly finds of this year.
That’s it for my beauty best purchases of 2013. Most of these products are affordable, easy to find, and worked really well for my skin, which is why I ended up loving them so much. I’m sure my routine will change again next year, but these are the products that made 2013 a good beauty year for me. Thanks for reading, and I hope you had a great year!
