First of all, I'd like to say thank you for stopping by the blog. My name is Syubaikah [shu-ba-ee-kɑː]. I'm going to start by answering the question everyone usually asks to me, "What does your name mean?" Well, it has no meaning. In case you're wondering where it's from, Baba (my late father) named me after an ancient graveyard called Maqbara Shabeka (مقبرة الشبيكة) in Makkah close to Masjidil Haram. Simply you can call me Ikah, but some my friends gave me nickname whatever they find most convenient and I usually know who might call me what ☺ Although my name sounds awkward for some people, I love it anyhow.
Born and raised in Jakarta, I was surrounded by a “very Betawi” culture, that's why I always speak with a Betawi accent at home, even with friends. I am the youngest of five and a definite introvert, I don't talk unless I have something to say. I love cats, books, and plants, and together those three things form the basis of my life. I can't wait to share with you the new and wonderful things I discover each day.
This simple blog is just my own space on the internet where I could write about anything that I wanted. I don't think I have any hobbies that define me like a lot of people do—that's why my blog is kind of a mess. Although I'm not particularly good at writing and sometimes I get a little stuck on what I want to write about, I'm giving it a shot anyway (through this blog, of course).
